From Search to Browse
Last May, Airbnb released a major update to its site: a new search based on category browsing. This product innovation enables exploration of inventory and destinations that users would have never thought about when planning their next trip. How did we build it? This new search experience is made possible by a diverse set of machine learning models, our knowledge graph and heavy human in the loop design. I'll unveil our architecture, our pain points and learnings along the way.
